Make a Perfect Fire
Wood is without doubt the most environmentally friendly fuel you can burn in your stove.
Wood burns at its highest efficiency when it is well seasoned with a water content of below 25%. wood is widely available from stove shops, supermarkets, petrol stations, garden centres and farm supply stores. For the very best fuel look out for Kiln-dried logs which offer a guarantee on the moisture content and will provide the maximum heat for your stove. Alternatively, if you have a private supply of wood, it needs to be cut, split and stored in a cool, dry place (ideally a car port or similarly shielded but well-ventilated area) for at least eighteen months. You can measure its water content using our Arada Moisture Meter
Burning unseasoned wood is not only bad for the environment but it also dirties the glass in your stove and coats your chimney with a viscose layer of tar that may ignite and cause a chimney fire.
