I would love a woodburner, Looking at the Acorn it says it can be used on a house boat, as I have a chimney that is made for a gas fire, it's a real chimney, never the less, but narrow. Could I have one of these? If not is there a way round it?

No sorry you need a new flue for the Acorn, the gas flue isn't any good for a multi fuel stove.
You can use a twinwall system, which is an insulated flue that will go either striaght up through the ceiling, bedroom and into the loft and through the roof.
Or
You can go up approx 600mm then out through the external wall with the insulated flue and up the side of your house which will be more expensive.
It will be advisable to contact a local Hetas installer and he can advice you and price it up for you. You can find a local etas website http://www.hetas.co.uk/
I hope this helps you

That sounds expensive, and would it mean a pipe going up through the bedroom?
On the outside wall, we have a corner house and I think the neighbours would object as it would be very obvious.

Yes it would probably cost about £2000 - £3000 for the flue only. The flue can go through the bedroom, but you can box it in which would be approx 7". You may need to check if you require permission from the council.

If I can correct you "admin"
The boxing in is going to be realistically 13-14" wide/deep.
Internal flue is 6" with a wall of approx 1.5" plus you should have a 2" clearance around that if you're boxing in.
6+1.5+1.5+2+2=13
I've done this many of times and it's not as bad as it seems, I would recommend contacting a company who deals in this, as admin says, find someone through HETAS.
