Looking to buy an Ecoburn 5 multi-fuel
This is to be placed in an existing opening but on a hearth that will sit directly onto timber floor boards.
I'm looking to use slate tiles, 20mm thick as a hearth.
Will this be sufficient or will i need to put a concrete base under the slate and if so how thick?

The under stove hearth temp is well under 100 C on these, so yes he can use the slate tiles, this complies with the Building Regs relaxation on the hearth thickness if the hearth stays below 100 C.
Kindest regards
