We started buying a fireproof material in sheet form from our local builders merchant- it comes in a sheet of about 3' square, is the right thickness and density, and seems to be made out of compressed vermiculite or similar- anyway, you draw out a template, and use a standard jigsaw to cut out your tiles, we have the non CH stratford, and can get three/four sets of tiles out of one sheet costing £30. Make sure you cut the right sizes- I tried to make the back out of one instead of two, but that split into two anyway when I threw a log in too hard. |
